LatinWorks Releases New Campaign for Cine las Américas

Austin, Texas-based LatinWorks this year continued its use of real footage of Latin American news, politics and current events to spice up its pitch for Cine Las Americas.

Unlike last year’s campaign, the new spots combine real footage with original creative, which serves as a sort of background to illustrate the hilarious absurdity of the speeches.

I still like last year’s campaign much better.

What do you think?

…On Hugo Chávez diatribe about saving water in the shower

…On Miss Antioquia’s “profound thoughts” on men and women

…On Cristina Kirchner’s speech about the importance of eating pork

Latin America’s Weird, Magical Realism Stars in LatinWorks’ Campaign Pitching Film Festival

Austin, Texas-based LatinWorks has found an hilarious -and smartly crafted- way to pitch Cine Las Americas’ 2009 International Film Festival. Two spots use Latin America’s odd politics to show how much more magical can the region’s filmmaking be.

The first spot features former Argentina’s president Carlos Menem infamous speech in Salta, promising the construction of a space platform that would make traveling through the stratosphere possible, taking Argentinans to Japan, Korea and pretty much anywhere in the planet in a couple of hours.

The tagline is brilliant: “If this is our reality, imagine our films.”

The second spot is no less genial. It features Hurtado Miller, Peru’s Minister of Economy under Alberto Fujimori, talking about yet another stratospheric situation: the price increases of the Fujimori era.

A third spot features a man who used to dress up as a woman to sexually molest ladies at the Mexico City subway.
